Principal's Message

As your principal I am excited to learn and grow along with our staff, students and community.  My priorities are to create a school where students want to come to each day, where they feel safe and valued.  

In my career I have had the pleasure of teaching every grade from kindergarten to grade 12.  I have worked for 5 different school boards across Ontario and also taught in Australia and England.  In addition to my years as a classroom teacher I have also worked in system classes, as a guidance counsellor and learning resource teacher.  

Our motto at the school is "Respect Yourself, Respect Others, Respect This Place".  These are the tenants that we live by at Woodroffe.  We are a dynamic and diverse learning community where we strive to ensure that students are working to their fullest potential, developing independence and problem solving skills, celebrating their uniqueness, valuing the differences and similarities of others and having fun.  

Our staff team is comprised of custodians, librarians, early childhood educators, educational assistants, office staff, teaching staff and us as administration.  We are supported centrally by an even larger team at the school board.  

Beyond the classroom Woodroffe staff work hard to provide a variety of unique learning opportunities.  We have over 20 clubs (green hearts, knitting, coding, band, art, lego, yoga, reading, etc.) as well as a vast variety of sports teams (football, soccer, basketball, cross country, bordenball, track, etc.).  In addition to this we believe strongly in the value of hands on, experiential learning and actively seek out opportunities for field trips and outdoor learning experiences that will further solidify the learning of our students in meaningful ways.

Our community both locally and globally is very important to us at Woodroffe.  We regularly engage in outreach with our local schools, shelters, food banks, senior communities and homes and international projects such Ryan's Well. Projects are designed with the idea of actively engaging students in the work we do and providing them with a variety of perspectives while widening their understanding of the communities we are a part of.  

I feel very fortunate to do the work I do and look forward to another year of learning,
