Leadership Recognition

Students

Woodroffe Avenue students are very involved in their school. They participate in activities such as volunteering as Lunch monitors, Bus monitors, Me to We Club, Green Hearts (Environmental Club), and many more. In addition, our students also show leadership in sports activities. We also acknowledge their contributions in our classrooms, school announcements, weekly communications to parents and assemblies.  Our students regularly contribute to community and international causes such as the Ottawa food bank, EcoSchool, Terry Fox Foundation, and local women's shelters.

Staff

Our staff members have a wealth of professional qualifications including Bachelors and Master's Degrees in Arts, Fine Arts, Physical Education and Sciences, as well as additional qualifications in Special Education, French as Second Language, Music, Visual Arts, Primary Education, Technology integration in the classroom and physical education. They have actively participated in numerous Board-wide professional development activities in literacy and numeracy, and we recognize their initiative by providing and supporting opportunities for further professional growth. Our staff draw on an abundance of varied experiences from the many different OCDSB and international schools they have worked in. Our diverse group of staff members represent the cultures and dialects of many communities across Canada and around the world.

Parents/Guardians/Volunteers/Community

Every year, our school volunteers contribute numerous hours of support for the benefit of students in our school. Our dedicated school council meets regularly and contributes largely to support a multitude of school activities as well as supporting in the funding of school learning initiatives.  As invaluable partners, we thank our parents, guardians and volunteers on an on-going basis.
